Captain Marc Devereaux

Director of Operational Logistics Senior Reserve Officer

U.S. Coast Guard Reserve

Captain Marc Devereaux serves as the Senior Reserve Officer at Coast Guard Director of Operational Logistics (DOL) Norfolk, Virginia and leads an organization of 690 assigned reserve personnel across 16 base commands. In this role, he is responsible for providing operationally ready and capable resources for augmentation and mobilization to enable mission support logistics during steady state and contingency operations throughout the Coast Guard enterprise.    

Prior to this role, he served successive tours as the Senior Reserve Officer at Sector Maryland National Capital Region, Baltimore Maryland where he managed 159 reserves and as the Senior Reserve Officer at Sector Northern New England, Portland Maine where he managed 114 reserves. In both roles, he was responsible for setting the strategy and implementing Reserve policy so that reserve personnel obtained mobilization readiness and earned qualifications through a combination of training and augmentation in support of Sector missions while preparing to mobilize as a national contingency force.

In 2012, he served the First District Headquarters as the Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer assigned to Federal Emergency Management Agency Region One and contributed as a planning section chief during a two-month involuntary recall in support of Hurricane Superstorm Sandy 2013. In 2001 through 2012, he was assigned to Sector Boston as the Port Security Duty Officer and served two non-consecutive nine-month involuntary recall periods in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and held numerous reserve cadre positions of increasing responsibility, including Chief of Prevention Reserves. During this tenure, he obtained the Marine Safety Insignia and served a two-month deployment as the Offshore Branch Director at Incident Command Post, Mobile Alabama in support of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. In 1998, he was commissioned an Ensign in the Coast Guard Reserves and in 1999 served a six-month assignment as the Y2K project Officer and facility engineer at Integrated Support Command, Miami Beach.

In his civilian occupation, Marc is the Executive General Manager for GE Power Services, a business within the General Electric Company. In this role, he leads a commercial sales organization within a $1Bn regional portfolio and is responsible for executing the growth strategy for parts, services, repairs, and upgrades across the lifecycle of GE’s fleet of gas power generation technology.

Marc holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Marine Environmental Science and Power Plant Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and a Master of Business Administration degree from Suffolk University. As an energy thought leader, he is also a member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies and Edison Electric Institute. Marc has completed three US Naval War College Joint Professional Military Education in-resident courses, earned numerous National Incident Management qualifications, and obtained a level four USA Hockey coaching certificate and currently on his 13th year coaching youth hockey. Marc resides in Scituate, Massachusetts and enjoys coaching his five children.
