Master Chief Mowery assumed the duties of Reserve Command Master Chief of Ninth Coast Guard District in June 2021. He serves as the primary advisor to the District Commander on issues and initiatives pertaining to the District Reserve workforce and their families.
His previous assignments include Reserve Unit Kenosha, WI, USCGC Biscayne Bay (WTGB-104), USCGC Ida Lewis (WLM-551), Group Long Island Sound New Haven, CT, USCGC Buttonwood (WLB-306), Station Milwaukee, WI, MSST Los Angeles/Long Beach, STANT Kenosha, WI, PSU 308, Kiln, MS, PSU 309, Port Clinton, OH and Fifth Coast Guard District, Portsmouth, VA where he served as District Reserve Command Master Chief.
He has deployed to the Joint Task Force Guantanamo Maritime Security Detachment, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on three occasions serving in the capacities of Tactical Coxswain, Waterside Security Division Officer, Operations Officer, and Command Master Chief. During his final deployment he also had the opportunity to act in the capacity as Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the entire 1750-member Task Force on two occasions.
His personal awards include the two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, two Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon Bars, the Coast Guard Cutterman’s Insignia, Coast Guard Coxswain Insignia and the Port Security Unit Insignia. He is a proud graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Academy class Reserve 20, the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course class 18-01 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University.
Master Chief Mowery resides in Germantown, Wisconsin and works as a Budget Analyst for the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is blessed to be married to his lovely wife Melissa and has two children, Audrey (13) and Henry (9).
